What Are Wax Melts and How They Work?

BLOG - What Are Wax Melts

If you’re reading this, I think it’s safe to say you’re probably a lover of home fragrance just like us! When you think of ways to fragrance your home most people think of candles which are loved by many as they have the ability to add a warm, welcoming ambiance to any room. However there are of course a variety of other ways to enjoy fragrances in your home. One such way is with the use of wax melts.

Introduction

Everyone knows how a scented candle works; the flame of the candle melts the wax, and as the wax melts, it releases the fragrance into your home. The same applies when using wax melts which are scented pieces of wax without a wick that come in different shapes and sizes. They can give off a slight scent when cold; however, they are designed to be slowly warmed using a tart or wax warmer. By using an electric or traditional warmer the wax slowly melts, releasing the infused fragrance oils without the flame. When you are finished, you simply turn off or remove the heat source and the wax will solidify until you are ready to use it again.

Safety

Wax melting (also known as “warming”) is a safer alternative to enjoying your favourite candle scents mainly due to the fact that a flame is not necessarily required during the process. However, that does not mean that melting wax is completely risk free and care should still be taken when using them.

Be careful not to overfill the dish of your wax melt burner as more wax does not necessarily mean you will get a stronger scent throw. Experiment with different wax melt scents and different burners as every scent and burner is different. For example, some electric warmers work best with only a very thin layer of wax.

Scent Control

If like us you like to be creative then wax melts are the right product for you! You can easily experiment with different melts by combining two or more scents in the warmer to come up with your own custom fragrance. By using wax melts you are not limited to using only one fragrance at a time. So get creative, experiment and have some fun mixing wax melts to come up with your own custom scents!

So there it is, the quick explanation of wax melting. Go ahead and melt away. It’s the safest way to bring amazing fragrances into your home!
